Welcome to Alldeaf there are lots of people who have had or are getting ready to have a CI you'll find lots of great answers to any questions you might have and lots of great people.

Welcome to AllDeaf!!

Plenty to discuss here, hope you will enjoy it.

welcome to alldeaf from Ireland!! I have three children who are Deaf. One age 9, age 3 and 18 months. They are all wearing hearing aids. They have oral language. Nice to meet you.

Why on Earth did you implant your son? :ugh: CI's don't have to be the "last resort". Do you know how to sign?

Hey.... i know you are proud of him... dont ever change him like getting him oralism or getting CI... be sure he learns ASL and also learns to speak...encourage him doing both.... Best of lucks..

SxyPorkie :)

I take it back... Now I remembered you from Deafchat... you kept telling everyone in there you would not change your deaf son.,.. you liked the way he was... You lied... you DID changed him by having him getting CI... you should wait until he is old enough to make his own decision..

Maybe she wasnt lying.. Time changes and We all do change our minds.. as long she said she wanted to get know more deaf culture and ci experiences.. thats positive encouragments for her son to know that he have both worlds to blend together.. and feel that he is not only one..

Hang in there.. Samantha..

Thanks DoofusMama! It IS possible to be a part of both hearing and deaf worlds.....we hoh folks have been through it.
I am VERY glad that you (samantha kennel) have decided to post here! See Deaf seperatists.....it IS possible to have a CI and to ID as Deaf!
It's great that we have a lot of parents posting here! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! This is really really great. Are you a memeber of the AMerican Society for Deaf Children? It's the best organization out there for dhh kids and hearing parents who are interested in Sign.
Ignore the anti-CI trolls. We are getting to be more CI friendly here in the Deaf world. I have to say, I highly highly strongly recomend this site to EVERYONE, b/c it is very balanced. Like it's got a lot of good Deaf Culture related topics, but isn't all boring Hearing Health.
gnulixman and SxyPorkie, at least she came HERE to learn about Deaf culture. She could have gone to AG Bell :barf:or to Auditory Verbal International (extreme :barf:)
