New Adelaide setting for deaf therapy. 15/06/2007. ABC News Online

The Cora Barclay centre for deaf children has a new home in Adelaide.

It has moved from Gilberton to a $300,000 facility on Melbourne Street at North Adelaide.

The centre will offer therapy for up to 150 deaf children.

Chief executive Michael Forwood says it is quite different from the previous location which had been set up like a kindergarten for the children.

"They come to us as soon as they've had a hearing aid fitted," he said.

"They're very young and we want to replicate the environment and the setting of a parented home.

"So the therapy happens in the therapy rooms but we have a kitchen and a bathroom and a laundry and a living area just like a home."
