The American Red Cross is hoping a new plan will help people who are deaf or hard of hearing in the case of a natural disaster.
The new emergency preparedness plan focuses on the deaf community and was put together with the help of the NTID. It specifically focuses on the needs of people who are deaf.
Members of the deaf community say this information is very important when it comes to being prepared. The Red Cross had started putting the plan together before Hurricane Katrina hit, but the need became more apparent afterwards.
