The crew from the popular television soap Muvhango visited the Rivers of Living Waters Church on Saturday in an attempt to uplift the deaf congregants of the church and to encourage other churches to do the same.
The church service was one of a kind, as it allowed deaf people to voice their grievances, granting them a place in the church without discrimination.
The day started with Bishop Stephen Zondo of the church welcoming the deaf and he emphasised that churches need to accommodate them, seeing as this is seldom done.
Bishop Zondo referred to how God used a stuttering Moses to free the Israelites from Egyptian slavery and he says that regardless of who you are or if you have a disability, the Lord assigned you to do his work. Zondo adds that when people mock, laugh or look down on you because of your disability, God wants you to know that he is still God.
Ivy Tshabalala from Muvhango says that it's about the deaf community is welcomed church. "That is why I have opened a school for people to learn sign language," she says.
As a fine finish to the day, Wahumele Mahuaa performed a striking musical item.
