MT School for Deaf & Blind Gets Fourth Donation | News, Sports, Weather for Great Falls, Helena, and all of Montana | Local Top Stories
PPL Montana continues their tradition of giving back to the community with a donation to the Montana School for the Deaf and Blind.
At a ceremony this afternoon, representatives from PPL presented a $10,000 check to the school, the fourth donation of its kind in the past five years.
MSDB will use the funds for their summer camps and family education weekends, programs that introduce a majority of hearing and visually impaired students to the school.
"But it also gives us a little bit extra to some of the fun stuff, so money's not an issue,” explained Jim Kelly, Dean of Students at MSDB. “We go to the Interpretive Center, go to the Gates of the Mountains, T-shirts for the kids, open caption movies... In a camp with the extra bucks, you do the fun stuff that makes the memories."
Previous donations to the school paid for library improvements, new bleachers and a Braille printer.
Officials say MSDB is the only group to receive so many donations from the PPL community fund.
