It would be so cool to talk to others in this situation. I welcome both hearing and deaf Mom's perspective. My son is 17 and goes to an all deaf high school. So I am sure things are not the same if I were deaf as well. We(his parents) do sign but not near as good as he is. And we do write things out sometimes to make sure we get a clear understanding, if there is any question. We are doing the best we can, but sometimes I feel terribly inadequate.
 
welcome to AD! I am almost deaf and am learning sign language but I don't have any kids. Good luck talking with the moms out there in AD land as well as the rest of us.
 
Hello there!! I believe that we all

worry that we are not adequate when it comes to parenting period!! All we can do is parents is our BEST!! Your concern alone shows that you are a awesome parent!! I am a mother of three young children and I suffer from the "mom quilt complex" I am HOH, hope to help!
 
Hey, you guys do sign even though u may not be as fluent as your son. That is great...My brother and I are both profoundly deaf and our parents never learned sign language. Any effort in learning sign language from the parents really make a huge different in the deaf child's life. It shows how much you are willing to meet his deaf needs. :cheers:

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum!!! I have to agree with Shel90. It does make a big difference for you to sign to meet half way for him. That is good and I am very happy. My parents(deceased) don't know how to sign with me. It is hard to try to lipread them and still I had to talk to them by voice. Everytime I speak, they laugh at my prounciation. My sister did not learn how to sign but she can fingerspell so that I can understand what she is talking about. So enjoy talking with us. :wave:
