August 12, 2005 — A deaf man who went missing in Madera County more than two weeks ago is safe.
Sam Friel disappeared from Madera Community Hospital while waiting to be evaluated for a mental illness.
Police in Merced located Friel around 6:30pm Friday night.
They say he's in good condition, and was found still wearing his hospital wristband.
