Miss Deaf America was in La Crosse Saturday, discussing some of the challenges the deaf community faces. For the past year, Erin Casler had traveled throughout the United States as an ambassador for the National Association of the Deaf.
She spoke out about violence against women and her personal experience as a survivor. Casler also addressed the importance of sign language interpreters, and noted the shortage the nation is currently suffering from.
The annual conference, which is being held at the Raddison, wraps up on Sunday.
