Man charged with killing armadillo

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — A Pinellas County man has been charged with letting his dog attack a family of armadillos and then stomping one of them to death.

A neighbor told deputies that 45-year-old Charles Robert Page was walking his dog Sunday morning when his saw the family of armadillos. The woman said Page let his dog off its leash, and it ran toward the animals. All the armadillos scattered except for one infant, which was trapped by the dog. The woman said Page walked over and stepped on the animal's head several time before kicking it.

When deputies questioned Page, he reportedly told them that he did it because he was frustrated with the animals digging holes in the neighborhood.

Page was arrested and charged with animal cruelty. He was released Monday morning.

Uh, how do you figure the dead armadillo has more rights than the human?

FYI: Animal cruelty is against the law in all 50 states and has been for a long time.
