Local hockey teams battle to raise money for good cause | wcsh6.com
Members of local law enforcement traded in their uniforms for skates Sunday afternoon.
Teams made up of police, deputies and BIW workers played a charity game to raise money for the Baxter School For The Deaf.
They say they sold more than 700 tickets and and raised over $1500 dollars.
They hoped to raise money, and spread awareness of the deaf community's needs.
They say giving back to the community has been the focus of their law enforcement careers and this game is a great way to do it.
"Working in law enforcement anytime you have a chance to give back to the community and do something for the kids especially like last year when we did something for the Cystic Fibrosis kids this year we did the Governor Baxter School For The Deaf and hard of hearing and this has been the biggest most successful charity game we've been a part of," says team captain Joe Dahms.
Dahms says he hopes to do this again next year.
