The Sign Language Angels
Come and visit the angels as they touchdown on the mainstage of the Pasadena Playhouse – State Theater of California, this Saturday, September 24th, between the hours of 10 a.m. and noon. The playpen is located at 39 S. El Molino, in the beautiful city of Pasadena. Tell a friend or two or three that Christie Jenkins will be on hand to teach you how to sign (on the dotted line) and open new communication lines. This is a fun class for all ages and all you have to do is show up and let your fingers do the talking.
You may ask yourself, “Why should hearing people learn sign language?” Christie may tell you that sign language is fun, natural and easy to learn. You can use it in everyday situations and some employers may even (St. Stephen) pay a big bonus if you learn it. Thee is a large deaf population living in the Los Angeles area. Many of us will become deaf or hard of hearing as we age ever so gracefully and it will be to our advantage to follow the path of the masters.
Arrive on time to experience the opening welcome by Pasadena Mayor Bill (Bogg) Bogaard with a sign-song performance by Melodee Hotsinger. Afterwards, sit in on a question and answer session with Jerry. Hear about this fascinating form of communication and learn at least 40 different fingering positions from the Angels. Five bucks gets you in at the door and another $20 gets you a video or DVD and you can even choose from English or Spanish subtitles.
If you can’t attend this special event but want to learn to sign, go to www. SignLanguageVideo.com for instructions or visit www.PasadenaPlayhouse.org to learn about more events planned to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
If you want to hear the voice of an angel, call (888) 532-7674 or (6 26) 683-1420 for a real good time.
