A sneak picture of Halo 3.

A comment made by the owner of Mircosoft, Bill Gates:

With the Halo movie set to hit cinemas in 2007, some believe that Microsoft may release Halo 3 at the same time as a tie-in game to the movie. However, this theory seems to contradict comments made by Bill Gates himself. A Time magazine article published earlier this year quotes Gates as saying, “It’s perfect. The day Sony launches, and they walk right into Halo 3.”

so it seems that Halo 3 would definetly steal Sony's thunder when they release the PS3 in spring 2006. :D

*evil chuckle* well...good luck, Sony! :D

That's purely Microsoft's opinion. Frankly, I don't think just Halo 3 will be the killer of PS3. If people are buying the XBox 360 just because Halo 3 will come to the Xbox 360, then that's sad. They are not hardcore gamers, they are just another group of people overtaken by Microsoft's monopoly scheme. As said in another thread, I would buy the Xbox 360 only if there's more than 10 to 20 games that matches my taste, but so far there's not a single game on the release list that I want to play. I have played Halo on a kiosk and (yes I know, a game on a kiosk tend to ruin everything but I have played better games that grasped my interest) the controls, the graphics and everything for Halo hasn't caught on for me.

I'm not surprised if Sony got something under their sleeves that may match the power of Halo. Maybe Nintendo too? After all, it's a dog eat dog world so we gotta prepare for it. Sony still have yet to find their own mascot like Nintendo have for their generation, Mario. Microsoft also have yet to find their own mascot but I'm willing to bet that Master Chief will be Microsoft's mascot...

Microsoft will steal Sony's thunder? Maybe in the USA but I don't think that will happen in Japan. Sony is very widely accepted in Japan and they don't even run everything on Microsoft. When the Xbox got released in Japan, not many Japanese flock to the stores to own a Xbox machine. It took a while for them to buy one because of the game library. They saw the games being released and they weren't pleased at first then later on, some games that they enjoy playing on the PS2, became available for the Xbox so they bought one so they can play some of the games for the Xbox. Exclusive titles like Ninja Gaiden was probably one of the main reasons why the Japanese bought the Xbox. As I was saying, maybe in the USA, but that's for the PS2 because of course, the Xbox 360 have better graphics, better powerhouse and the "next generation" games but when the PS3 comes around as well as the Revolution, it will be game time because I'm pretty sure, after people have caught a glimpse of what the Xbox 360 can do, they will be curious as to see how well the PS3 and Revolution do.

Again, that's just Microsoft's opinion and they are just building hype for the Xbox 360.
