Iran deaf football team on Friday traveled to South Korea to take part in the 2nd Asia Pacific Deaf Football Championships.

The event will be held in Changwon City, South Korea from May 14 to 25 and is supervised by Asia Pacific Deaf Sports Confederation.

The 10 teams are divided into two groups of five. The best five teams will qualify for the 2012 World Deaf Football Championships which will be held in Ankara, Turkey from July 10-21.

Elsewhere, Iran’s deaf volleyball and table tennis women team will hold the training camps in the wake of preparation for Armenia warm-up tournaments in late June.

Iran had a good start in the 2nd Asia Pacific Deaf Football Championships on Sunday.


The Iranian outfit beat India 14-0 in its opening match in Group B. Thailand defeated Australia 2-0 in the same group.

In Group A, host South Korea overpowered Uzbekistan 6 -0 and Japan and Iraq played out a goalless draw.

The event is underway in Changwon City, South Korea and will finish on May 25.
