Suppose company "Yellow" wants to make their videophones interoperable. Yellow develops a new version of the videophones and includes interoperability features that can only be accessed by paying subscribers. That means if you want to use a different relay provider other than Yellow, youd be paying Yellow a monthly fee to access it.

This is all hyphothetical and no specified company is mentioned. However this is a possible scenario.

What is "Yellow"? It means VoIP videophone?

I wouldn't. It's NOT THE INDUSTRY STANDARD. Everyone else allows interoperability -- why should I pay for what everyone else already gets?

That would mean that I would be at the mercy of that provider to allow me access to those other relay services when they want me to. I also assume that that "fee" would allow me to use the telephone directory to call other devices.

If they screw up on my order in any way, I will be stuck using their service, meaning they earn MORE money, until things are "cleared up."

That could even mean that they require you to use VRS, not VP to VP, to call their customer service, just to clear things up. Then they'll take 5 business days to process the payment, so you're stuck using them until then. Am I giving them great ideas yet?

so youre so yellow? assume that youre a jap?

I use 'yellow' because everyone I know has 'yellow'. I actually prefer 'green' but have to use IP address to call my friends with 'yellow' I, therefore, use 'yellow'. If 'yellow' charges a fee, will everyone switch to 'green'? If not, won't I be pressured to pay the fee for the convenieince of being able to contact friends easier?
