Death Row Inmate Found Unconscious Two Days Before Execution

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio authorities said a death row inmate who was found unconscious in his cell two days before his scheduled execution likely overdosed on pills.

Prisons spokeswoman Julie Walburn said 43-year-old Lawrence Reynolds Jr. was found late Sunday unconscious in his cell at the Ohio State Penitentiary in Youngstown.

Walburn said he is expected to survive the suspected overdose. It was not clear what kind of pills they were or how he got them.

Reynolds was sentenced to die Tuesday for killing his neighbor in 1994. The status of his scheduled execution is now uncertain.

That's too bad. Woulda saved a buttload in taxpayer's money if they let him die. No they want to SPEND our taxpayer's money executing him!

What a bunch of morons. He's gonna die anyway, so why the hell save his life????

He'll probably live with defenders citing him to be insane because of his suicide attempt. So, more tax dollars to be wasted.

Every Execution is witnessed. It is common for the inmates to be allowed to say anything before being executed, to any family members of the victims, or to their own family members, plus it allows for Priests to provide last rites, or etc.

It is some sort of closure for family members to see the execution of the one who killed someone close to them.

At least that is what I think. I could be wrong.
