It's still to soon for me to be able to understand speech let alone use the phone. But I'm planning to use webcaptel.

You see, my biggest problem with using webcaptel is that I can't hear when the other person is talking to I end up talking over them. But with my CI I can now at least hear that they are talking. I can't make out the words but I can hear their voice.

I'm wondering how many of you might use webcaptel on the go like this. IF you have any opinion, suggestions or tips.

Not a bad idea but very expensive if it doesn't work for you. You might do a "test drive" with somebody else's or a demo model to make sure it would work for you.

FYI - I'm very comfortable using phones and thus have a Motorola Razor. I prefer to use it to communicate by voice only. I don't text nor use the cam on it. The sound quality is excellent. Unfortunately (depending on one POV :D), I have become interested in sending and receiving emails and I might consider a Blackberry when my contract is renewed in the near future. <Sigh!>

Yea, fortunately one of the people I design and maintain a websites for is also a good friend of mine and he's going to buy one for me as a business expense. It's true that he often needs something done on his site while I'm away for a few days so I don't find out about it until I get back home. So this way I can find out what he needs done even when I'm not near my computer. So, I'm getting one for free + a year paid plan. :)

In a way I have tested my ability to use it since I got my CI. I just used my cheap tracfone and my computer. I find it very helpful to be able to just hear when they are talking. When they answer the phone and say "Hello" I know when to start talking. Will cut down on people hanging up their phone because of the delay in my response at the beginning of the call.

I have the Iphone, It was the device i would most feel comfortable calling my mum in Austria, also I can use my PAC (personal Audio Cable) to block the background noise. I am very happy with mine.

Good luck with your decision

No experince with Webcaptel (SP)
