Hi everyone. I've been coming to AD for a while now but this is my first post in this section of the forum.
I'm deaf and I'm a professional magician. I realize this post is going to be a little unusual but there's a reason I'm posting about this. I figured other deaf and HOH in here might have had experiences that could possible help me out in an act I'm working on. So please bare with me while I explain this to you.
Here's the basic idea of the magic act I'm working on.
When I'm introduced to the stage the Emcee of the show explains to the audience that I'm deaf.
When I walk out I start to talk to the audience in ASL. Obviously most of them won't know ASL. So to solve the problem I'll pull out a large pad of paper and draw a face. Then I'll stand the drawing up and put a microphone in front of the drawing. Then I go back and start to sign to the audience again. What ever I say in ASL the drawing will come to life and talk (Eyes and mouth move). They'll be able to hear the drawing talking and it'll repeat what I say in ASL. So basically the drawing is the audiences interpreter.

Note: it's not me in the above video.
Later in my act I'll bring someone from the audience up on stage to assist me with a trick. When I ask for their name I won't be able to hear them (Even if I lip read it right I'll act like I didn't catch it). So to solve this problem I'll open a wooden box and a hand will pop out and finger spell their name to me. So the hand is basically my interpreter (Kind of like the hand on the Adams family).
Now here's the part I'm working out right now and if any of you have any ideas I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know.
I need to work out a small skit that involves me, the drawing and the hand. A sort of conversation like a ventriloquist might have with two puppets.
This is interesting because we have me who only talks in ASL. The drawing talks with speech and the hand finger spells.
I know this is a strange thing to ask about but if any jokes or stories come to mind that would involve 3 people. One that speaks and two that sign. It would be great if you can share it here. Any ideas of suggestions could be helpful no matter how small or silly.
Who knows, maybe this could be a little fun. I know it's up to me but I just thought I'd brainstorm the idea with other deaf or HOH that might have had experiences that could fit here. I know I've had some strange things happen in my life because of my deafness.
I plan to perform this act this coming March in a stage competition.
