help me, need router for Mac and VPAD?

Hello Guys,

I know how use PC, Linux, hardware network into router
but my friends went to Hawaii now, he ask me how use VPAD and MAC to CableModem, I told him, must Router

I test each VPAD work, mac work on cablemodem without router
but he told me Apple Mac OSX 10.4.2, PowerPC G5 cannot router right? but he need both VPAD and MAC in one router, how?

Really? Are you aure MAC will work any Router?
becuase my friend told me that he went to Radio Shack at Hawaii, man said any or Linksys Router cannot Apple MAC, only Apple Router,

^^ Yes, We are sure. Any router you can find will work with a Mac. Your friend in Hawaii doesn't know anything, sorry. I am using a $15 router that most never heard of with a Mac and it works fine.

The router doesn't care what computer you use, it's a piece of equipment that just routes the internet from the cable modem to several devices. It will even work on any computer running UNIX operating systems.

Yes. regardless of platform, as long the platform is using IEEE 802.3 standard (unless you are using 20+ years old equipments) will work with today routers.

I understand MAC will work Router,
I never use Apple and MAC, I don't know how use MAC becuase my friend visit thier dad's MAC, they VPAD give him, they want see him but they live in California, thier dad in Hawaii, I alrady told them, Router is fine, but they told me don't need buy Router, use plug and unplug between MAC and VPAD, oh well.. forget them,

It seems complicated for me to explain like that, however I never own VP stuff.

Other than this topic, Your friend's Mac need to be update, current is 10.4.11 for Tiger, also G5 is good enough for upgrade into Leopard (10.5).

Radio Shack man from Hawaii know nothing about Apple.


Yes, Apple do work for ANY brand of router
