Hearing Dogs for Deaf People opens Tees Valley branch - Gazette Live

A charity which trains unwanted dogs to act as the ears of deaf people is celebrating opening a new Tees Valley branch.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to recognise and alert their deaf owners to everyday sounds that hearing people take for granted.

They are also trained to alert their owners to danger sounds so that the deaf person can take evasive action.

The new Tees Valley Branch of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is holding an open meeting to celebrate its launch and raise awareness of the charity’s work.

Everyone is welcome to attend the launch meeting on Wednesday, February 27, at the Dogs Trust, Hill House Farm, Sadberge from 7pm onwards.
