I'm sure some of us are still with Medi-cal since it's a part of the SSI package. Correct me if I'm wrong here. It's been 5 years and I'm no longer getting SSI checks because of my income.
Lately, a lot of family clinics or dermatologists aren't accepting Medi-cal. I'm starting to wonder if Medi-cal sucks dick but I have no idea where to begin. I've been looking up Medicare and I know I qualify for it but unsure if I can switch from Medi-cal to Medicare. Medicaid is out of the picture because of my income. Blue Cross insurance has a monthly fee which I refuse to pay. I am permanent disabled so my only option is Medicare.
I live in Koreatown, LA so there's a lot of Korean family clinics here but most of them are quacks trying to rip you off... but that's besides the point.
So what do you guys suggest? Is Medicare the most preferred health insurance among family clinics, dermatologists, and big hospitals? Can I make the switch or is it possible for me to keep both Medi-cal and Medicare?
Forgive me for asking a lot of questions out of the blue but it's getting frustrating whenever I make a road trip to a clinic and they flat out rejected me because they don't accept Medi-cal. This can be said the same for some Hospitals in LA.
P.S. I'm looking for a health insurance that's willing to pay for minor surgeries having to do with acne-related. Also, to cover fees such as visiting the doctor to get prescriptions for common cold such as flu's.
