Has anybody seen movie " Jarhead "?
I rented the DVD at my local video shack.... " Jarhead ".
I have mixed opinions on this one. I am not too sure I like the movie but the movie could of have been better.
I liked the scene where the Marines are watching " Apolacyse Now " and cheering the good guys on !!!!
The one in where the oilfields are erupting in oil rain then a horse probably an Arabian horse was covered in oil. I went Aww Man !!!! That wasn't right. Saddam blew up the oilfields in the Gulf War.
I liked the scene where the Marines see many camels and an Islamic woman comes forward to talk to him then later while the Marines are riding in the back of a military truck then that same Islamic woman, real young and beautiful in a car , the same Islamic woman with the camels with her family sees what another Marine says and does does on the back of the truck meanwhile the one Marine that spoke with the Islamic lady was embarrassed because of what the Marine friend was doing....and that reflected badly on the Marine who was speaking to the Islamic lady in the first place.
I understood perfectly when they were coming home from the war on the bus then a Vietnam Veteran gets on the bus to congraulate the returning U.S. Marines then he asks to sit on the bus. The Marines said yes and they sat in silence. I went whoa because I remember the Gulf war and how the Vietnam Veterans greeted the US Troops home very positively, something they never had, a national homecoming patriotic parade and I thought it does not matter if the war is popular or not. I will be there to cheer on the US Troops returning home.
I know that deployments are hard but I noticed in the movie many of the Marine regulations were broken and if they really did that in real life then they would be sitting in the brig.
I don't think I liked the way the movie portrayed the US Marines. Yes, The Marines are trained to kill, that is what they do in war but I know they are professional and all business in all that they do. I thought the opening start of the movie reminded me alittle bit of Full Metal Jacket at boot camp. I was excepting a war movie, not this....
It would not be one of those I would buy to keep in my DVD collection. Really, I have mixed opinions about this movie "Jarhead" I think they could have done much better. The picture and cinematic effects were great. I think they did a good job with using the sunlight to their advantage though.....
