I was born 100% deaf in my right ear, and the hearing in my left is fine. I've grown up within the hearing community but I know I experience the world much differently than my hearing friends; due to my deafness.
I've only recently started learning ASL (for many reasons), but am not extremely far along with it. My main question is how someone in my situation is viewed in the deaf community. Does my one good ear mean that I have no place in starting to immerse myself in the community? And what's the most appropriate way to identify myself to D/deaf persons? I.e. Would I be considered HOH?
