A deaf teenager playing basketball in City Heights was severely beaten by a group of males who confronted him because of the way he was looking at them, authorities said.
The victim was playing with friends in the 4300 block of Wightman Street last night when a group of 7 to 10 males walked up to him, San Diego police Sgt. Bob Dare said.
The group didn't like the way the the teenager was looking at them, then beat him and left, Dare said.
He was taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, the sergeant said.
There were no other reports of injuries.
