For a while now, I've been looking for a replacement for my George Foreman grill that does not have a Teflon coating. For those that don't know, Teflon has been known to kill birds.

I came across this grill:
Steak King Contact Grill - Green Pan

Has anyone used it or know anyone who uses it? How does it cook? Do you recommend it?

I've heard Greenpan cookware has some issues, but this electric grill doesn't get that hot so I am not sure those issues apply.

Thanks in advance.

They are supposed to stop making Teflon in 2015 because studies have shown that it's bad for us too. Teflon has been linked to cancer and birth defects in animals and is in the blood of 95 percent of Americans, including pregnant women. It has also been found in the blood of marine organisms and Arctic polar bears.

I have been trying to find pans that are not Teflon and I have found a few. I'm getting rid of all my non-stick Teflon pans/pots.

I use stainless pans, but for the contact grill this is the only one I've found with alternative coating.

Verdict so far: Good grill. A little hard to clean, but can cook a Salmon Fillet very well.

They have pledged to reduce emissions and phase out PFOA the harmful chemical in teflon. So it sounds like they will keep making it. Hopfully people will start to catch on.

I have a "green", no-Teflon, nonstick pan I got a few years back for cooking eggs and pancakes. Don't remember the exact brand but I remember seeing that "Greenspan" you mention, when I was looking for my pan. I ended up still needing some olive oil in the pan but overall what I got has worked well but I do notice that in the last few months, it's gotten harder to get any egg residue off the pan.
VacationGuy, glad you like your grill:)
