The two Tobago schools that competed in the annual Power Gen Special Games at the Penal Recreation Ground, Penal last week Tuesday gave a creditable showing in the highly competitive sports meeting.
Uniformly attired in all blue and executing a beautiful portrayal of the theme the 'Beauty of Buccoo Reef', the Tobago School for the Deaf was declared the Best Uniformed team in the Creative March Past.
However, surprisingly Happy Haven who portrayed an African theme and was beautifully attired in African gowns and dashiki tops with cocoyea brooms did not finish in the top five, but their mascot Jamila Gardner who portrayed an African queen was a runaway winner for the Best Mascot.
Happy Haven finished with two gold, three silver and three bronze while the Tobago School for the Deaf almost mirrored Happy Haven's result with one first place, three second places and three third places.
Results - Happy Haven-shakey walker - Marvin Walker 1st, piggy back - David Singh and Ricky Quow 1st, chariot race - Carlon O'Connor, David Singh and Kervern Campbell 2nd, sack race - Kerron Trim 2nd, 100m Danielle Aaron 2nd, potato shuttle Kerron Trim, Sergio Marcelle and Anki Granderson 3rd, Rayanne Hughes, David Singh, Anna Leggerton 3rd wheel barrow - Kervern Campbell and Thea Baird 3rd, Tobago School for Deaf - Sack race - Kelson Daniel 1st, three legged race - Daniel, Sheldon Taylor and Christian Scipio 2nd, wheel barrow - Anthony Myers and Sheldon Taylor 2nd, Sack race - Shanice Joseph 3rd place, Conga line Joseph, Keizelle Grant, Kerriex Jones, Asher Sylvester, Terrylisa Griffith, Tiffany David, 100m Shanice Joseph 3rd.
