Gambell, Alaska weather.... of TODAY

LOL .. my SO spent much of his youth in Alaska. He keeps wanting us to move there. We probably will at some point. He talks about how it's soooooo much warmer than Minnesota. I have trouble swallowing that, although I think he's right by a few degrees.

Although, I know that the Bering is a cold, gray, menacing sea, I think the fact it (Gambell) is on or near water is what makes it warmer. I was born and raised in Minny, I have always noticed that the area in southeastern AK at the ocean was/is has been around 8 above in the dead of winter because of the "warmer" ocean currents.

What part of the state is it located in?

Edit: It's on an island. I would expect there may be moderating effects of the ocean at work.

I remember read one Russian scientist said that North will get warmer, and South is getting colder after 2000, and he may be right.

Well, if you look at the records. It broke the record of 32 degrees on the same day in 2007. It reached 60 degrees on that day. That is a really big news for breaking a record by 28 degrees highee than the record itself.

1. It could be a malfuctioning thermo sensor
2. It could be the warm winds causing heat-up in a period of time.
3. Same as these above.

Or someone hung the thermometer upside down? Kind of like a topsy-turvy tomato thingy?
