GA town wants $135,000 for storm warning systems - WRCBtv.com | Chattanooga News, Weather & Sports

Rome, Georgia residents may soon have more warning when severe weather hits.

Emergency officials are applying for a $135,000 grant, to pay for tornado sirens at five parks.

The sirens would cost about $75,000.

Another $25,000 would be used to buy a thousand weather radios, many of which would go to the public.

The rest of the money would go towards a weather warning system for the deaf, which uses strobe lights to warn of severe weather.

It's about time...
the weather sirens in my area are not loud enough for me to even feel anymore. They switched out the old ones for new ones that are not as good. I could feel the other sirens when they turned in my direction-could feel the viberations.
The new ones? nada.
I've contacted the news stations over this and the EMC here in Ga over it. They've done nothing.
