I am hurrying up the holiday sentiments to move on past Halloween to get rid of those horror pictures people are putting on their signatures and as their avatars! [Shaking her head!] You all are giving me nightmares!

Since I am a first-generation American of a immigrant parent, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving at all. We usually eat "extra-fancy" on that day because the ham usually is on sale. My American father was the one who always threw a thanksgiving dinner but after he got out of the picture, we regressed to our Finnish customs.

Now I got an full-blooded American husband whose family does celebrate Thanksgiving... he is aware that my family and I don't celebrate Thanksgiving but he still wants to do something for Thanksgiving this year.

He is thinking about taking me to the Hotel Del Coronado... not to spend the night or anything *SUPER SUPER expensive*, but just have a lunch/early dinner at one resturant near the Del. I didn't enjoy the last time he took me to the Del because it was nighttime and I knew the Del hotel is haunted so I panicked when he wanted to go into the Del to show me around. :-/ It just felt SO wrong to step my foot onto the premises of Del! I don't mind strolling up and down the beach and outside of Del, but INSIDE?! NO WAY.
He decided he wants to recompense my bad encounter by taking me again during daytime so I can enjoy Del's interior beauty and whatnot.
Wish me luck. :( I am SO terrified of going in the Hotel Del because of all ghost stories I have heard while growing up.

One of many haunted ghosts that live at the Del!

WHAT ABOUT YOU??? I am sure your plans for Thanksgiving is less traumatic than mine...

Heh

I dont blame you at all. The hotel is truly beautiful as I have been there many times but I have felt chills down my spine whenever I am inside the hotel.

I ll be celebrating Thanksgiving in good ole Los Angeles! I will be staying in Los Angeles for a week so cannot wait! I like the idea of being able to swim in the ocean on the same day I sit down to have a turkey dinner! :) It always rains where I live so a nice weather change would be great! :fruit:

i uddy how ur feeling.. since i will have babysitter for one month on nov.. so i dont know what to do on thanksgiving so maybe we go out eat.. not sure.. i will find out..

Del is so beautiful.. I've never been there.. I'm pretty sure its scary especially at nighttime.. I think this year we'll be going to my fiance's parents house to celebrate Thanksgiving.. with all them yummy food. I love the ham especially. We'll also be welcoming my fiance's step-father's homecoming from Iraq.. It'll be an extra special moment for the family. We're looking forward to it!

Nah, I went to Hotel Del Coronado last December during my stay (CDI workshop) at time. I was not afraid of ghosts, I just simply embraced them with my arms. I found two famous rooms (maid room and Kate Morgan's room) myself as I pretended to be a hotel guest to wander around. I even found only one secret pass away somewhere in that hotel. I took tons of pictures of the interior and exterior of Del during nighttime.

I paid nearly $30 bucks on Lemon Dew drop shots at a bar in Del..yes $9.16 per shot, but it was worth my experience. I was so buzzed and laid down on a tiny sofa near Kate Morgan's room. When I came to her haunted room, I felt some chilling air in that area. Weird.

I spoke with my psychic buddy on SK, he said that several ghost butlers and hotel workers watched over me in protect me from a current hotel worker or guard around. They were not bothersome to me. :D

I consider that Hotel Del Coronado is the most beautiful one. Don't be afraid of ghosts!

I wouldn't want to stay in a haunted hotel.. No thanks.. I hate ghosts- they creeps me out.

As for my thanksgiving- I guess I will be spending with Joe and his family, who knows?

I am in complete agreement with you over the seasonal halloween avatars, but replace nightmares with migraines.

Did you know Canada celebrates Thanksgiving in October?! How weird is that! It blows my mind!

Weird? Perhaps they Canadians think it is weird that we spend our Thanksgiving in November! ;) It's only a matter of perspective.

I wouldn't be scared to stay in a "haunted" place. One of my friends stayed at that hotel, and they loved it. I would definitely go for it if I had loads of moolah.

wow. Pretty interesting all about this hotel. One day I would love to stay there...
To see any ghost.. I'll would love to take picture for my sovienivers. :D

Gnarly, as you can try break your fear and try stay dine and have fun for your thanksgiving day celebrate w/your husband. I bet Ghost will not bother you around in the dine.. Mostly ghost hung around the rooms and hallway includes outside of the beach nearby the stairways.

I know. I'm only making use of my twisted sense of humor.

I, too, have been to the Del several times and there was nothing there to raise my hackles.
