FLU INFORMATION IN ASL
Leaders in Ontario's Deaf Community have welcomed the decision of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to provide public information about influenza and the flu shot in American Sign Language (ASL) on its website.
As producers of the videos, For the Record Productions Inc. is asking you to help spread the word to the Deaf, Deafened and Hard of Hearing communities and their friends, families and service providers. We have included several website banners, an e-mail and an information page (attached in an Adobe PDF document), which we hope you use in any combination of the following ways:
Forward the e-mail to individuals
Post the e-mail in your message boards
Post the press release in your website news
Include the press release in your e-newsletters
Place the web banners on your websites
Print out information to place in your offices and community centres
The direct link to the page with the ASL videos is: http://www.health.gov.on.ca/english...flu/flu_05/factsheets/flu_mythsfacts_asl.html
Does the Deaf community need information in ASL delivered this way (i.e. on a government website)? Let us know what you think. Just as importantly, tell us by e-mail how you are using the above information (website, links, etc.). Feedback from Deaf organizations and individuals will greatly assist us in our efforts to get other government organizations at all levels to follow Ontario's lead. Please e-mail info@fortherecordproductions.com . Thank you for your help!
