Fire Safety Workshop for the Deaf and hard of hearing - FOX19 News and Weather - Greater Cincinnati Area

The Cincinnati Fire Department hosts a fire safety workshop for those who are deaf and hard of hearing in the community.

Earlier this year CFD received a $13,200 Fy10 Fire Prevention and Safety grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

A large portion of the grant was used to purchase special smoke alarms for the Deaf and hard of hearing. CFD partnered up with the Hearing Speech and Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati for a special fire campaign for those who needed the specialized smoke alarms.

At the event, those fire alarms were distributed.

For more information about smoke detectors for the Deaf and hard of hearing, contact the Cincinnati Fire Prevention Bureau at 513-357-7582 or email Fred.prather@cincinnati-oh.gov.
