Captionel Telelphone Relay Service:
I got this email today , I thought you would like to see if . My state ,Mass.
does not this servuce yet.
In the past, you contacted CapTel Customer Service seeking captioned telephone service in a state that currently does not have this service. We want to update you on a new Federal Communications Commission (FCC) proceeding that is seeking consumer input about making this service available in all states. The deadline to provide your input is July 27, 2009.
In 2005, a coalition of various national consumer organizations petitioned the FCC to mandate captioned telephone relay service nationwide, but the FCC did not act on the petition. A mandate would require all states to offer captioned telephone relay services without any restrictions or jurisdictional concerns. Last month, these same consumer groups went back to the FCC and asked the Commission to issue a decision on their original petition.
The FCC has now asked the public to provide input on this request. If you are interested in sharing your thoughts about whether this service should be mandated, you can do so by sending us your thoughts or by going directly to the FCC website and entering a brief comment on the FCC's electronic comment form at ECFS Comment Upload. If you prefer to go directly to the FCC's comment form, the proceeding number in response to line Number 1 is 03-123, and comments may be typed directly in the box labeled "brief comment." As another option, you may attach a word document that contains your comments by following the instructions at the bottom of the FCC form.
If you are interested in more detail about the FCC's Public Notice requesting this public input, you can view the notice itself at the FCC's website at Telecommunications Relay Services, and scroll down to the Public Notice listed on June 26, 2009.
Has any one use this and if so how do you like it?
