A Deaf couple will receive a home makeover and the event will be aired on ABC TV on Sunday November 7th. This show will certainly give the audience a lesson on the technical devices a Deaf family can use, an open concept sign, communicaton devices, flashing lights, TTY installation, fire safety devices, etc.
REMEMBER: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, ABC TV, SUNDAY NOVEMBER 7. Check your local television listing for the time it airs.
I have received this via educational-purpose email system. I have another verison that elaborates a little bit but unfortunately I deleted it. BAsically the TV show's deaf family was pushed forward by their 14-yr-old hearing son who worries about how his deaf family (the son is the only one that can hears) can manage when he goes to college. His younger brother has autism (i think) and his parents both are profound deaf and one has a disability from work injury or something... I cannot recollect the accurate brief about the family. But this is something of interest. The tv show is hosted by Ty P(something) from "Trading Spaces." The "Extreme Makeover" tv show is also fairly new and they are already paying some respect for the deaf audience. -Nice-... but that is the theme of the tv show although-- they target the families with special needs and whatnot so they are more inclined to need a specialized house to serve their needs. One time they showed a family who has a young child that has a weak immune system and the family was cramped into a small house (9 people in four-bedroom house) due to expensive health bills and not enough income and they had to give the young girl her own bedroom so she can breathe easily (so 8 people for three bedrooms?)... and they were given an extended house with more bedrooms and healthier air system for the girl....
you get the thread going that the TV show is aiming for.
Just thought this is something of interest.

I am curious to see how the host and TV show puts the light on the "Deafness"-- a truly handicap or a culture...? Hm hm.
