Hong Kong - A sign language expert "talked" a suicidal deaf-mute man down from a sixth storey window ledge in a Hong Kong high-rise block, a news report said on Wednesday.
The expert was summoned by police during a two-hour standoff with the 35-year-old deaf-mute man when he was found on the precarious ledge in the city's Cheung Sha Wan district early on Tuesday morning.
The expert successfully persuaded the man to give up his suicide attempt, the newspaper said. The deaf-mute was reportedly upset because he had split up with his girlfriend.
