Yea! See Obama policies on energy is working! ;)

"Analysts at the Department of Energy's Lawrence Livermore Labs have run the numbers on the US energy use in 2009, and come up with similar results to those obtained when examining the country's carbon emissions: energy use is dropping at a pace that is faster than would be expected based on the slowing economy alone. Even better, the growth in renewable energy, coupled with increased use of natural gas, is displacing significant amounts of coal."

US energy use is dropping and shifting to renewables

Thanks, netrox. Good news. People are actually becoming more conscientous. That is a good thing. Thanks to Obama for facillitating the change in attitude and behavior.

Perhaps the lower usage is related to American manufacturing jobs that no longer exist. Sorry to rain on the parade...:sadwave:

Yeah, or people driving less because they are unemployed and can't afford to drive. Or running their heater and A/C less because the can't afford the bills.

Quite possible. That is why we always need to look at the extraneous variables before crediting or blaming any one thing or person for the situation. Thank you for pointing that out. Now, if some will only learn the lesson.......

um, did you actually read a simple paragraph?

"energy use is dropping at a pace that is faster than would be expected based on the slowing economy alone."

It's not just the economy itself. It dropped more than it was expected.

Yes including "expected" could mean the economy is worse than they expected too. Or maybe they are just bad at expecting.... :)

Selling quite a few energy-efficient air conditioners here, and the same will be true for furnaces in the Fall.

Well said. Experts project, not control. And experts have been wrong quite often.
