I and my mother are going to Iowa and Pennsylvania in two weeks later. I had noticed my mother packed many emergency items in her '01 Lancer. They took too much space. I want to cut down to needed items and leave enough space for our baggages. Back seats were rerserved for our pets (cockatiel, gecko and its live food crickets, little dog).
Could you help me to pack right emergency items so they dont take lot of space?

I checked the bulky black bag today. I found a rooftop cargo bag and straps, some maps included truckers', auto wipes, heating ice scraper, a tool bag, and 12 volt Inflator.
And I discovered that rooftop cargo bag designed for use on vehicles with roof racks only. '01 Lancer dont have a roof rack but '93 Tracer does. '93 Tracer were taken to my sister's in Norfolk VA few weeks ago. I'll talk with my mom about that cargo bag later.

What's that and what's the inflator?

I think you need blankets, a flash, matches, First Aid Kit, some gallons of water, and I can't think of more right now. They don't have to take up so much space if you find small convenient supplies.

My Kit Consists of:
Duct Tape
Multi Tip Screwdriver/Pliers
Solar Blanket
Can of Fix o Flat
Jumper Cables
Flares

First Aid Stuff:
Scissors
4x4's and other gauze pads
Tape
BandAids of various sizes

I don't keep food in my kit, water will freeze/food will probably spoil before its used. My kit isnt really designed to "fix" things but effect temporary repairs.
