Marissa Woodruff of Elmira, a high school senior at Rochester School for the Deaf, received two national honors for her performance on the volleyball team.

Woodruff was selected as the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association Division II Volleyball Player of the Year, and she was named to the Deafdigest Sports All-American volleyball first team.

Deafdigest is an independent publication delivered weekly to nearly 50,000 online subscribers across the country.

Woodruff was a NDIAA Division II volleyball first-team All-American in 2010 and a second-team selection in 2009.

This season she helped the Wildcats go 18-4 and capture the Eastern Schools for the Deaf Athletic Association Division II championship.

Woodruff holds several school records, including most aces in one season (97), career aces (315), most service points in one season (166), career service points (479), career setter assists (403), career kills (100) and career blocks (13).
