Elderly deaf man robbed in Longview store | KETK

n August 18, 2011 Officer Doug Pickering responded to the 2400 Block of Gilmer Road. When he arrived at the scene the victim, 92-year old Harry Nash of Longview, told Officer Pickering his wallet had been stolen. Mr. Nash said he was paying for his items and set his wallet down on the check stand. He forgot to pick it up and walked away for only a few seconds. When he returned he saw a black male paying for items at the register. He said he did not see his wallet and the man had been the only one there at the time he walked away from the register.

The suspect was observed on video taking the wallet and placing it in the left front pocket of his shorts. The suspect is described as a black male, heavy build, approximately 5’10” tall. He was wearing a blue sleeveless shirt, blue jean shorts, glasses, and a blue baseball cap worn backwards. The suspect also had a small child with him. The suspect was driving a Buick Regal 1997-2004 model. The car is white with a tan stripe around the bottom and a sunroof.

Detectives are asking for anyone with information about this incident to contact Gregg County Crime Stoppers at 903-236-STOP or online at Gregg County Crime Stoppers. A reward of up to $1000.00 may be paid for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in this case. Any information given will remain confidential.
