A Kilmarnock College student has represented his country on the Great Britain Deaf Football team at the European championships on 27 June 2011.

Sports coaching student, Jordan Kerr was part of Great Britain's 22-man squad at the European Deaf Football Championships. Thanks to a major fundraising campaign, Jordan managed to raise £1,500 so he could travel to Denmark and represent his country.

Jordan (25) who has been deaf since birth, has been playing professional football since he was fifteen years old and currently plays for Hurlford United.

Local charity Ayrshire Sportsability, which promotes the wellbeing of children and young people with a disability through sports, donated £200 to Jordan's fund from the auction of a signed Rangers shirt at their annual ball.

Jordan also received an amazing donation from Kilmarnock College who supported their HND Sports Coaching student by donating £600. This was raised through various student fundraising activities.

Dr Wai-yin Hatton, Chair of Ayrshire Sportsability and Chief Executive of NHS Ayrshire & Arran, commented: "Ayrshire Sportsability aims to support young athletes who are involved in sport. It is inspiring that Jordan has managed to become such a success in the world of football and we would like to congratulate him on his achievements so far. I am sure he will continue to represent his country in the future."

Heather Dunk, Principal of Kilmarnock College, said: "Jordan is a truly inspirational student and a huge asset to the College. He is so passionate about football and this is thoroughly reflected in his fundraising abilities."
