Massive Wall Of Dust Rolls Across Southern Arizona
Dust Storm Known As A Haboob Precedes Severe Thunderstorm
A massive dust storm is rolling across southern Arizona ahead of a string of severe thunderstorms.
The huge wall of dust is slowly making its way across the desert dropping visibility to zero in some areas.
The unique storms are called called "haboobs" and are native to the southwest United State and India.
The walls of dust form as thunderstorms move across the area. They have up and down drafts that pick up and push large amounts of dust building up the moving wall of dust and sand.
The storm in southern Arizona has been moving across the region since this afternoon and the Weather Service has issued both dust storm and thunderstorm warnings for parts of southern Arizona until about 8:00 p.m. this evening.
