A friend (with no hearing problem) reports using voice & internet data at the same time on a Verizon activated Thunderbolt with no problems even though our area only has 3G. That would be great for a way to use Hamilton Mobile CapTel with just one phone! My calling pattern is too intermittent to want to pay Verizon’s rates. So dreaming of Page Plus allowing 4G phones - they currently allow none regardless of if you have 4G service or not in your area.
I have gotten a Droid 2 to work combined with my old LG 3280 TracFone using their Web CapTel. That uses the browser in the Droid in place of one on a computer for the captions and the other phone to talk to the other party on the call.
I have not gotten the Droid 2 to work with the new Wireless CapTel by Sprint in spite of it referring to working with AndroidTM powered devices running OS 2.2 or higher! It drops the call very shortly after making the connection. My memory is that I had been told that it would not be limited to Sprint and it is in the Android Market.
But I have no idea of when this might be usable as I have gotten caught waiting for things “coming soon”. LOL the Wireless CapTel by Sprint was “coming soon” for about a year!
The use of one phone for captioned (CapTel or whatever) calls is my dream. Has anyone here on PP found a way to do it?
