I wish I had a recorder as Marty was just 'talking' in his sleep! Maybe he was having a bad dream about the hawks going after him!! It was really cute the Marty cried in his sleep!

Wirelessly posted (droid)

One of my dogs does that. The other dog just snores.

Pippin barks in his sleep. Sometimes it's a whole opera - he whines, then woofs softly, then barks a couple times, then sort of mumble-grumbles, then yips a couple times, finally relaxes and sighs and goes into a deep sleep again.

Once he barked himself awake, and looked up and around him like "Where the heck am I now??"

Wish we could have insight into those doggie dreams, because clearly something interesting is going on in their minds.

Oh yes! Big Holly (chow/shepherd) will mutter and her eyes seem to blink while closed. You can feel her vibrations as her lips quiver!

Fatty fatty Booboo (Boo) is a pom/papillion who had a stroke not long ago, sighs and stretches in his sleep. He curls up so cutely. His lips seem to smack! He has so much personality that each of the kids has a different name for him. He answers to Boo, Boocifer, Booceralius, Sassy, Foxy Boudreaux and Bodie. Odd huh? He did name himself. He is a "talker". We could not all decide on a proper name for him. So I said "What is your name"? He said "booooooooo". lol

Little Bitsy (CKC Pomeranian) just snuggles. She is older and she sleeps beside my husband in the recliner as he watches tv. He will move a bit, she wiggles over again to be close to him, even in her sleep. No escape. She does curl and uncurl her tiny paws.

We are really boring here! I never see my dogs do that. They just sleep beside me on the sofa, and the most they ever seem to do is turn over if I move around too much.

They also give me mean looks when I get up to do work around the house or fix food. :)

LOL! Oh how I would love to know what Finlay and Marty are dreaming when they talk in their sleep! Marty was making a few sounds tonight , he was making mumble-grumbles and yips sounds! I did not know what I was hearing at first! I love when Marty little paws will start switching when he is dreaming. He like to sleep on his back and his little hind legs poke up in the air!

They give you *mean* looks when you get up to fix food??? Those ungrateful little brats! They should be worshiping at your feet when you fix food!!

Mine have been trained to always wait outside the kitchen when I or my husband is getting their food out. Mostly this is for safety reasons; I don't like small dogs crowding around my feet while I'm moving back and forth in the kitchen.

So now Casey, smart boy that he is, when he hears the refrigerator open, he will RUN from any place in the house and sit down exactly at the dividing line between dining room and kitchen, because in his mind "opening refrigerator" should always equal "food coming up for Casey!!"

Unfortunately sometimes it just means I am fixing myself an iced tea. He cocks his head quizzically and looks at me like "WEEEELLLLL??? And where is MINE???"

Sorry, baby. Not your moment.

 Not enough discipline here! They know they are very important!

Finlay's lips would move a lot when he slept , he really talked in his sleep and paws would flop all over the place, like he running ! Marty fart in his sleep, now that not cute!! I have to be care as he like to sleep next to my head! He so small he can lay right next to my head!

I think Marty last owners let him stay right in the kitchen when they cooked
as Marty does that when I cook. I have no way keep out of the kitchen. I could put him in his crate, but I do not want use it as punishment . He might
get to upset when I have leave him at home.

Little dogs sleep on the floor or on their big special bed. Since they are older we fear they will fall from high bed.

Lucky I am short (5 ft) because Holly likes to sleep between the headboard and my pillow. She also likes to sleep stretched ouuuuuuttt between us with her head on my pillow or shoulder. It is handy because she is also my alarm clock. She sticks her long, cold nose on my neck or ear and with her paws - pushes!!! Yikes! If somehow I manage to ignore this, she will yank the pillow from under my head - or worse - eh, she will sit on me!!! Ooof! Its a great thing for workdays, but she does not know weekends or time changes. Good dog, good girl. sigh.

I have an old table in the middle of the kitchen. Holly will lie under there and hope for clumsiness. She is a great vaccuum. sigh. I so spoiled this hussy dog.....

<------ the picture is my grand dog, Layla. She is half pug and half shepherd. I forget what kind of shepherd.

Does Marty know the "stay" command? I started with Casey teaching him "stay" (put your hand up like "stop"), stepping back for a few seconds, then approaching him and giving him a treat if he had stayed in one position. Gradually I moved further and further away, and had him "stay" for longer and longer times.

It didn't take long for him to learn that "stay" meant keep his little butt where it was planted, and that treats (or dinner) would be coming up shortly. He knows exactly where he is supposed to sit and stay when I'm making his dinner.

I was teaching Marty how to sit and stay and he was learning it very fast. I need to work on this more. I was getting him to stay and move away from him.

He's a poodle. He'll learn. Be consistent and you will be amazed at how quickly he can learn.

With all his health problems, it's understandable that his training got put on the back burner for a while - but now he's probably ready for it and capable of learning whatever you want to teach him.
