More specifically, his signature?

The scary-looking fish that he always used in his signature is commonly called "Angler fish" and I learned something about this fish in my Oceanography class and I felt obligated to pass on my newfound education to him...

Hello!

Actually I just want to PM you to enlighten you with some information about the image you used in your signature: the picture of Angler fish (that creature has several names/nicknames but it is commonly called Angler fish)... I am not sure if you already know about the fish but let me continue:

I am taking an Oceanography class at my university and the recent chapters covered the marine animals and mammals. (I got a final exam this Tuesday--wish me luck!)
The Angler fish was the most discussed animal when it came to benthic (bottom-dwelling) animals.

Didja know your image is of a female? The Angler fish of that size is ALWAYS female. The female also always got the light (lure)... now you may ask: where is the male???

Well you see-- the male in that species of Angler has served their purpose purely: to be the breeder of sperm. The male angler is much SMALLER than the female (1 to 10). It wiggles around in deep-sea looking for a bright lure-- because he knew it belongs to a female-- and he swims all way to the female and goes undereath her belly and ... screws himself into the belly which infuses himself to the reproductive organs of the female Angler fish. Once the male has infused, it dies. YES, unforunately it dies-- but not before it turns into a simply container of sperm for the female to collect and breed by herself.

Interesting, isn't it!? Actually I did think of youwhen the professor discussed about-- no no not you as the male angler fish but the fact that you DO have the same image my professor used in her powerpoint presentation.

I am sure you can see the little creature sucked on the fish on its stomach-- THAT is the male Angler fish!

:bump:

And now you can notice that he is including an image of a male Angler fish!

Angler fish is an interesting fish...! Little ugly too,

:thumb: That is quite interesting on the Angler. Thanks for sharing. Does this mean that there is a drop in the male species of the Angler when it decides it's going to breed?

Is that Extactly description... ???

YEP! that is the Angler fish! (In reality, Nemo and Dora cannot swim all way down to deep-sea to meet the scary-looking fish...! It is too cold and salty for Nemo and Dora *coral reef fish* to survive.)

gnarlydorkette,

Ah Got it.. Thanks..

My children really loves this memo movie show and always repeatily every 2nd nights.. *ahem*

Gnarly, that is interesting! :) We learn something new everyday...and for me, it's about the Angler fish. I didn't know much about it before and you have taught me something here. :) Thanks! :)

There are many, many different creatures that we have not discovered yet, and we only covered about 1-2 percent of the world's deep sea creatures. We find more and more new creatures we never seen before. Angler fish is well known for a long time, I believe. :)
