The former girlfriend of a deaf woman accused of killing another woman testified today that the defendant was nervous days after the slaying.
Daphne Wright's former girlfriend, Sallie Collins, also told jurors that Wright got mad at Darlene VanderGiesen days before VanderGiesen disappeared.
Wright is the first female defendant in a South Dakota capital punishment case.
She's charged with kidnapping and murdering VanderGiesen and could be sentenced to death by lethal injection if she's convicted.
Collins says she was a platonic friend of VanderGiesen's and dated Wright about five years.
All three women were deaf and from Sioux Falls.
Wright occasionally wiped tears from her eyes while Collins testified.
