cbs2.com - Deaf Tutor Pleads Not Guilty To Sexual Assault
A deaf man pleaded not guilty Monday to five felony charges stemming from the alleged sexual assault of a physically and developmentally disabled man he was hired to tutor.
Timothy Wayne Harris, 46, of San Diego, entered his plea before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Michael S. Hider, who ordered the defendant to return to court on Aug. 29 for a felony settlement conference.
The defendant faced one count of sodomy, and two counts each of oral copulation of a disabled person and sexual battery.
Harris had been hired to tutor the hearing-impaired, developmentally disabled man by his family, said sheriff's Sgt. Michael Dittenhofer.
Harris tutored the man for five months and allegedly molested him during their time together. When the tutoring sessions ended, the victim, 24, came forward with the molestation charges, the sergeant said.
The defendant was being held on $500,000 bail at Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
