Deaf Students Serve as Pages at Capitol
A first for some Arkansas students at the state capitol Friday...
Because good news matters, students from the School for the Deaf served as pages to the house meeting. While young people have worked the session since the early 1900's---it was a first to have deaf students participate.
"I really appreciate working here. But its not really easy though. Its hard to find where people sit and follow the map and the row where they're sitting in so all these things I had to work on that," Ryheem Brown said, who is a senior at the school.
Brown and Jerica Floyd of Villonia delivered notes and documents to legislators on the floor of the house. They say the experience encouraged them to work in government. Both will attend college in the fall.
