Deaf man takes stand in rape trial - Breaking News - The Olympian - Olympia, Washington

Jurors will hear closing arguments today in a trial of a deaf man accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s Lacey apartment and raping her in July 2007.

Nathan Anderson, 26, is charged with one count each of first-degree burglary with sexual motivation and first-degree rape, court papers state.

On the witness stand Monday, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney John Skinder questioned Anderson about notes he allegedly wrote to a fellow inmate at the Thurston County Jail that were seized in December 2007.

Anderson’s jail “penpal” had contacted prosecutors about the notes because he was “concerned for the safety of the victim,” court papers state. Some of the notes seem to say he did it while others say that he was set up.
