Internationally renowned deaf artist Peter Cook brings poetry to life through American Sign Language and body language. Bridging numerous genres of artistic interpretation, the Flying Words Project, a collaboration between poet Cook and ¨hearing voice¨ Kenny Learner seamlessly incorporates spoken word and textual imagery, however focus and emphasis remain primarily on visual performance. In addition to a Friday night performance, Cook and Learner will conduct a workshop seminar earlier in the day with students and Hartford teens from the Institute for Community Research´s Youth Action Program. The vibrant world of ASL poetry comes to life Fri., Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hoffman Auditorium, St. Joseph College, 1678 Asylum Ave., West Hartford. (860) 231-5555. $18.
