DNA - India - Deaf girl rape case: DNA tests of cops - Daily News & Analysis

The deaf and dumb girl rape case registered on July 30,2008 in which two policemen were arrested following their identification and later three other alleged accused surrendered before police and confessed their crime will undergo a DNA test.

All the five alleged accused are in Judicial custory and the police have decided for a DNA test of them from a Chandigarh laboratory.

Both policemen identified as Paramjit Singh and Balbir Singh were declared innocent by police initially in this case and police moved the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate for their discharge on July 31, 2008 pleading their innocence.

Police alleged that the crime was committed by other three identified as Sonu, Lakhwinder Singh and Deepak Kumar and that too at Talwandi Bhai.

However, the court did not agree with the plea of police and rather ordered the identification of other three accused.

At the identification the girl was taken from Nari Nekatan Jalandhar for identification in the Moga jail where all the three lodged in judicial custory were presented before her, but the girl did not point at any of the three on August 11.

The victim identified the policemen first on July 31 in the presence of Sub Divisional magistrate (SDM) Moga.

The crime came to light only when the religious head saw the girl roaming about in the town.

When he questioned her, she started crying and conveyed the incident through gesture.

This whole thing sounds shoddy. I bet they tried to cover it up.
