I used to hate to go to events because I was single and everyone else had dates. I've had 2 different girlfriends( in addition to current girlfriend) in the last 4 years.

The first one was HOH and fluent in ASL. SHe tried to get me to go to some Deaf Events. I went to few. I just did not enjoy them. Maybe it is because it took time away from flea market and bikes. I wish that I had been more proactive about enjoying Deaf Events when I was with her.

2nd one was Deaf and she bought me to some Deaf Events. I enjoyed going to them, but I did not enjoy my relationship with her. I'm no longer with her.

3rd one is hearing. We go to some Deaf Events, but not enough for me. I don't get to sign fluent in ASL often enough so it sucks!! I feel stuck not using ASL enough.

Basically, I'm flat out not happy about not attending enough Deaf Events.

People may think that having a girlfriend is a great thing, but for me, I don't always enjoy it.

Why don't you go by yourself if you are interest in going into the Deaf events? Maybe with those girlfriends, they might be a distraction when you could not make conversation with other people. Just go with the flow and see what kind of Deaf events you like the best. You don't have to go several Deaf events. One Deaf event might be enough or you might prefer going for 2 Deaf events. It might be a lot easier if you make your choices on your own without the girlfriends. Just a thought. :hmm:

I got to go to one too many deaf events with a HOH girlfriend and not enough deaf events with current hearing girlfriend. If given choice, I would probably prefer 1 too many event than 1 too few event.
