Deaf Boy Robbed At Gunpoint (from This Is Cheshire)

A CALLOUS thug robbed a deaf boy and his teenaged brother at gunpoint in Stretford.

The deaf 12-year-old boy and his older brother were attacked as they walked home along Barton Road, near to the junction of Winster Avenue, at about 9.30pm on Tuesday.

A group of four men approached them on bikes and shouted at them to hand over a phone.

The older brother, aged 14, explained that his brother was deaf and didn't have one - but the man then grabbed the 12-year-old boy and threw him to the floor.

The thug continued to shout at them and threatened them with a gun.

The 14-year-old signed to his brother, who then handed over his PSP console that he had in his pocket. The man left with the console and the older brother's mobile phone.

This man is described as white, aged 18 to 20, about 6ft, slim with a round face and short dark brown spiky hair. He was wearing a dark brown shirt with a pointed collar, blue jeans with brown patches, a light brown jacket and white trainers. He was wearing a silver chain around his neck and had a sonic blue, white and black Trek' mountain bike with him.

Sergeant Mike Sever, from the Stretford robbery unit, said: "This was a nasty attack on two young vulnerable boys. The offender knew that the younger boy was deaf, yet he still continued to attack and rob him.

"There were a group of youths standing nearby to where the incident happened and we're keen for them to get in touch and tell us what they remember.

"I'd urge anyone with any further information to contact us on 0161 856 7553. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
